Corey Zuroweste
Author of the Soulmark Saga
Corey Zuroweste writes speculative fiction about identity, choice, loyalty, rebellion, and what happens when people begin questioning the systems that have shaped their lives.
He is the author of Marked, Book One of the Soulmark Saga, a YA dystopian story set in Lumina, a fortified city where an ebony mark is supposed to determine the person each citizen is destined to love.
What began as a planned trilogy has continued to grow as the world, characters, histories, and secrets of Lumina expanded beyond the original outline.
About Corey
Corey Zuroweste has been writing stories since he was about eight years old. Long before publishing became part of the plan, he was filling notebooks with stories, characters, imagined places, and ideas for books that might someday become something larger.
Over the years, those notebooks multiplied. Some contain complete stories and books, others hold fragments, character histories, worldbuilding notes, scenes, maps, and ideas waiting for the right story to find them. Much of that work still exists in handwritten form, waiting to be transcribed, revisited, and eventually brought into Scrivener and prepared for publication.
Marked may be Corey’s first published novel, but it is far from the first story he has written. It is the beginning of finally opening those notebooks, bringing decades of imagined worlds into the light, and sharing the stories that until now have mostly existed on paper, in binders, and in his head.
Beyond the Page
Based in Missouri, Corey spends a good portion of the year somewhere near a soccer field, with his kids playing nearly year-round. He is also a beekeeper and master herbalist, and there always seems to be another project, experiment, or creative idea competing for whatever time remains.
His writing is closely supervised by Titus, a Boerboel, and Chunk, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, neither of whom appears particularly concerned with deadlines, word counts, or personal space.
